Aracely, an example of female empowerment in the electricity sector
June 25, 2025
In the streets of Santa Ana, a powerful story of female empowerment is unfolding. Aracely, a native of this city, has not only demonstrated that women can work in the electrical field; she has proven that they can excel, lead, and transform lives through energy.
A graduate of the Fourth Category Electrician course promoted by AES El Salvador in alliance with the Instituto Salvadoreño para el Desarrollo de la Mujer (ISDEMU), Aracely was part of one of the first generations of women electricians in the country. Since obtaining her certification in 2019, she has worked as an independent contractor, challenging gender stereotypes in a trade traditionally dominated by men.

"At first it was difficult. Many clients doubted my ability just because I was a woman. They even refused to give me the job," she recalls. But with perseverance, talent, and discipline, Aracely managed to build a solid reputation. She began promoting her services on social media, gradually earning the community's trust. Today, she is a recognized electrician in Santa Ana, with a loyal clientele and a waiting list that speaks for itself.
Her story is living testimony to the impact generated by technical training programs with a gender focus. AES El Salvador and ISDEMU committed to training women in the electricity sector, not only as an inclusion measure but as a strategy to transform lives and communities. Aracely is proof of this.
Thanks to her work, she has been able to pay for her house, support her children, and complete her English studies. But her ambition doesn't stop there. She is currently enrolled in the Third Category Electrician program, to which she was again invited by AES due to her commitment and outstanding skills.
"I want to keep learning. There's always something new to improve," she says enthusiastically. Her message to other women is clear: "Don't stop. This knowledge can open many doors for you. Yes, you can get ahead."

Aracely represents the spirit of women who, with energy, break down barriers and transform reality. Her story illuminates the path for future generations of technicians, engineers, and leaders in the electricity sector in El Salvador.
AES El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to equal opportunities, confident that with every woman like Aracely, the country moves towards a brighter and more energized future.
