Since our operations started, we have been aware of the challenge implied by managing the impact of our business on the environment. Therefore, in AES El Salvador, we created initiatives aimed at raising awareness, preserving and protecting our natural resources and biodiversity.

    Urban Arboriculture: “Sustainable Cities”
Urban arboriculture considers the planning of planting adequate flora species in a city. Selecting the species that will form part of the green landscape of cities is a practice that must go hand in hand with its urban planning plans.

As part of the initiatives of AES El Salvador in favor of the adequate and environmentally responsible management of trees in cities, since 2016, we have offered every year the urban arboriculture seminar called "Sustainable Cities" with the objective of providing knowledge that contributes to turn cities into spaces with more harmony between vegetation and electrical infrastructure.

To date, 89 institutions related to the environment, as well as municipal offices, construction companies and government and non-government entities have been trained through these seminars.

Recommendations for vegetation control in cities

We offer a recommendation about the types of trees, palm trees and shrub species with adequate characteristics to adjust to the environment of cities with aerial electrical networks, so that they don't affect lines and don't become a problem for the safety of the community either.

    Turtle

    Marine turtle protection
Since 2011, we promote the protection of the olive ridley marine turtle species, with support from institutions dedicated to its preservation. To date, more than 270 volunteers from AES El Salvador have contributed to the construction of nine hatcheries that have enabled the protection and safeguarding of more than 50 thousand eggs of this marine species in coastal areas of the departments of La Paz and La Libertad.

Volunteers and their families participate in a marine turtle release activity to complete the annual cycle of this project.
