AES El Salvador: Sustainability that transforms energy into development

June 2, 2026

Sustainability has become a key element to respond to the challenges of the electricity sector, operational efficiency, and action for the benefit of the environment. In this context, AES El Salvador has integrated sustainability as part of its business vision, connecting innovation, modernization, impact, and commitment with concrete solutions for the country.

Thus, in recent years, the company has promoted, through its Distribution Division, a technological digitalization plan with an investment exceeding US$ 67 million, aimed at modernizing the operational and commercial infrastructure of its distribution companies: AES CAESS, AES CLESA, AES EEO, and AES DEUSEM.

In 2025, this process marked a milestone with the implementation of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and the AES Customer Ecosystem (ACE), platforms that centralize and strengthen the operational and commercial management of the company, by allowing a more integrated operation with greater monitoring and response capacity. Added to these advances is the expansion of its Advanced Smart Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which allows the incorporation of remote reading, notification, and service management capabilities.

The evolution toward a new digital customer service model allowed AES to launch its new mobile application at the beginning of this year, so that its customers can manage their electricity service quickly and safely, without the need to go to an office.

For the company, sustainability is also expressed in the promotion of a greener energy matrix. Therefore, through its Generation Division, AES currently operates 16 plants: 15 solar and one based on biogas, which in 2025 avoided the emission of more than 230 thousand tons of CO₂. Furthermore, as part of its continuous commitment to a renewable future, the company is building Santa Ana IV, a 55 MW solar plant that, upon entering into operation this year, will position AES as one of the main solar energy producers in the country.

Likewise, projects like AES Meanguera del Golfo reflect its innovation capacity, by combining solar energy and battery storage to provide carbon-free electricity 24/7 to the island communities of the Gulf of Fonseca, in the eastern part of the territory.

The growth of the country's productive and economic sector is key for the group. Through its Solutions Division, AES accompanies industrial and commercial clients with tailored energy services, such as solar plants and rooftops for self-consumption, energy audits, efficient air conditioning and lighting, and electromobility, consolidating itself as a strategic ally for the growth of these sectors.

These actions have contributed to strengthening the positioning of AES El Salvador in studies and recognizations associated with corporate reputation, sustainability, and employer brand. Its constant presence in business rankings and its leadership within the energy sector evidence a sustained trajectory, in which innovation, environmental responsibility, and value creation for El Salvador are part of the same corporate vision.
