AES El Salvador, through AES EEO, put into operation the new El Algodón substation, in Santa Rosa de Lima, La Unión; a strategic work designed to strengthen the electrical supply in the eastern zone.
As part of the commitment of the electrical company to provide a quality service, last May 31 concluded the works of repowering of the electrical network of said zone. The main objective of these works is to ensure the continuity and reliability of the supply before the growing energy demand, driven by the strong heat waves registered in the national territory during the last months.
With the putting into operation of the El Algodón substation, located in the district of Santa Rosa de Lima, the load capacity of the electrical network in the northern zone of the department of La Unión is strengthened in an immediate way, mitigating with it the inconveniences due to demand overloads. This project will benefit more than 29,000 clients of the districts of Santa Rosa de Lima, Bolívar, Concepción de Oriente, El Sauce, Pasaquina, Polorós, San José, San Alejo, Yayantique, Yucuaiquín. In addition, it will positively impact the districts of Jocoro (department of Morazán), Comacarán and San Miguel (department of San Miguel).
With this initiative, AES EEO continues modernizing the electrical distribution infrastructure of the country, implementing solutions that respond in an opportune way to the energy challenges derived from climate change and from the increase in electrical consumption caused by the growth of the commercial activity of these zones.
