With the release of sea turtles, AES El Salvador, through its AES Environment pillar, reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability and the preservation of endangered species, strengthening its actions in favor of protecting the country's marine ecosystems.

For the tenth time, employees of AES El Salvador participated in the release of Olive Ridley sea turtles at El Espino Beach, Usulután department. The activity, developed in coordination with the Zoological Foundation of El Salvador (FUNZEL) and the OIKOS Association, seeks to contribute to the preservation of this species and foster a culture of environmental responsibility for marine life.

35 volunteers from the distributing companies AES CAESS, AES CLESA, and AES EEO participated in this session, supporting the release of newborn turtles into the sea, promoting the conservation of marine ecosystems and the country's biodiversity.

Since 2011, AES El Salvador, through its Corporate Social Responsibility pillar "AES Environment," has driven various initiatives focused on the protection of coastal ecosystems. During this time, the company has carried out nine turtle release activities, with the cumulative participation of 311 volunteers.

Likewise, in previous efforts, AES volunteers have contributed to beach cleanups and the construction of corrals for the incubation and protection of sea turtle eggs, thus integrally supporting the different stages of conservation of this species.

In this work, FUNZEL and the OIKOS Solidaridad Association play a fundamental role as intermediaries and technical implementers. Both organizations collaborate with local "tortugueros" (turtle rangers) at El Espino Beach, collecting the eggs to transfer them to protected nests managed by OIKOS, where they are cared for until hatching and subsequent release.

The OIKOS Association, which works on environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable practices in the rural areas of Usulután and San Miguel, also collaborates with local communities and international organizations such as the FAO on projects for climate resilience and community development.

"With these actions, AES El Salvador supports the preservation and protection of biodiversity and marine ecosystems, contributing to the fulfillment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 14: Protect life below water," highlighted Claudia Soriano, Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator for AES El Salvador.

Through these initiatives, the company reaffirms its commitment to the sustainability and environmental development of the country, promoting ecological awareness and the participation of its employees in the conservation of marine life.
