AES EEO strengthens electrical infrastructure in eastern El Salvador to meet growing demand

As part of its commitment to strengthening the national electrical infrastructure, AES EEO is executing two major power upgrade projects in the eastern region of the country, with the objective of increasing capacity to meet growing energy demand and improving service quality for thousands of families, businesses, and industries.
These projects directly benefit 37,903 users in the departments of San Miguel and La Unión, driving growth in both economic development hubs of eastern El Salvador.
Greater capacity and stability for San Miguel
One of the most relevant projects will be expanding the capacity of the Moncagua Substation and primary electrical distribution networks located in the department of San Miguel, where AES EEO will modernize the existing power infrastructure.
The work includes installing modern electrical equipment and more advanced technology. These upgrades will allow the company to more efficiently serve the sustained growth in electrical demand across the urban and rural areas of San Miguel and its surroundings.
With this intervention, 15,242 users will benefit from a more stable and reliable supply, prepared to respond to the current and future energy needs of the territory.
Modernization in Santa Rosa de Lima
Likewise, the electricity distribution company executed a capacity expansion project at the Santa Rosa de Lima Substation in the department of La Unión.
The work included replacing the main transformer and relocating voltage regulators—actions needed to manage peak energy demand during heatwaves in the sector.
The modernization will enhance service continuity and quality for 22,661 users in Santa Rosa de Lima and nearby areas, while creating the necessary conditions to support the region's economic and population growth.
