AES CLESA strengthens electrical and road safety with preventive pruning day in Ahuachapán
October 24, 2025
AES CLESA, the energy distribution company of AES El Salvador, carried out a day of preventive pruning in the department of Ahuachapán, as part of its strategic maintenance and pruning plan, with the objective of ensuring the continuity of the electrical service and strengthening road safety in areas where vegetation posed risks to the electrical network or vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The intervention aims to maintain harmony between the electrical infrastructure and urban trees. The work was concentrated in the municipality of Ahuachapán Centro, and in the districts of Apaneca and Ataco, benefiting more than 36 thousand residential customers and 50 local businesses.
Among the tasks executed are the pruning of 19 large trees at risk of falling, the removal of vegetation close to electrical networks, and the renovation of part of the electrical infrastructure to reinforce energy supply. Furthermore, the work included the application of specialized arboricultural techniques, which allow for the preservation of the trees and ensure that their future growth does not interfere with electrical lines or with the passage of pedestrians and vehicles.
"Through prior planning and inspection in the area, large trees were identified whose fall posed a direct threat to road safety. Therefore, certified pruners removed dry or dead branches, and specific resources were allocated for the removal of the generated waste, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the intervened areas," explained José Lito Rodríguez, Manager of the Western Region of AES El Salvador.
Nationwide, during 2025 the companies AES CAESS, AES CLESA, AES EEO, and AES DEUSEM have executed more than 8,000 kilometers of preventive pruning, reaffirming their commitment to safety and the continuity of the electrical service throughout the country.
Interinstitutional Coordination in Santa Ana
As part of its preventive actions, AES CLESA, in coordination with the Santa Ana Centro Mayor's Office, the Municipal Civil Protection Committee, and other first-response institutions, carried out a tour around schools and hospitals to identify trees at risk of collapse or contact with electrical lines.
This initiative is part of the same strategic plan and its execution is scheduled for November 2025 in the sectors prioritized by local authorities, contributing to reducing accidents, preventing power outages, and maintaining harmony between infrastructure and urban vegetation.
With these actions, AES CLESA reaffirms its commitment to citizen safety, environmental sustainability, and the reliability of the electrical service in the communities of the western part of the country.
